Solitude, slow pace, and purpose driven exploration help me see and feel these majestic creations in a deep and moving way

Intimate encounters with our majestic land, animals, and people

I find inspiration in the amazing diversity and majesty of our wonderful world:  from the smallest details, which form beautiful compositions, textures and colors, to the immense vistas brought to life by interaction with ever-changing light. Over the last 20 years, I have wandered patiently and persistently through spectacular wilderness areas in search of inspiring vistas to share with you. I have hiked, biked, waded, swum, climbed, Jeeped, and even flown in search of a unique and meaningful metaphor. This solitude, slow pace, and purpose driven exploration helps me see and feel these majestic creations in a deep and moving way. I hope these pictures will bring joy to your soul also.

Large format immersive prints are the best way to experience my artwork

A picture is not “taken”, it is “created” in part by God and nature,  and in part by the artist. I spend many hours in the wilderness searching for inspiration and capturing the raw material needed to produce fine prints. However, this is just the beginning. I believe, as Ansel Adams did, the print is the ultimate goal of all my work. I spend many hours creating the final prints using techniques learned from photographers, portrait artists, and painters.  Sometimes I am asked whether the scene really looks the way I have portrayed it.  My simple answer is “I don’t know, but that’s how I felt when I was there”.  I seek to immerse you in the picture so you can feel what it is like to stand in a cold stream or at the edge of a steep cliff. So these pictures are best experienced in large format prints.

My Mom and Dad have been very special partners in this journey.

The search for inspiration and then creation of artwork enables me to experience these places in a much deeper and meaningful way. I am constantly amazed by the brilliant design of our world and how ever changing light and weather bring it all to life in new and different ways. My Mom and Dad have been very special partners in this journey.  They have encouraged me to experience and create fine artwork throughout my life. When I was a child, they introduced me to the Rocky Mountains and over the years cultivated a deep love for these beautiful wonders. When I became a parent, they diligently passed on their love of the wilderness to my children and wife. And later in life, Mom and Dad have been enthusiastic and persistent partners in many of the artistic journeys which inspired the pictures in this book. In fact, My Dad is a very fine artist. Sharing this passion together has touched my soul deeply.
